Schools Closing?

Anybody have any updates from the Public hearing tonight? Are they closing the schools or not?

Its not even been voted on yet, public expression just ended at about 10 and it will pass. Betty had another motion to out it off for a year...failed of course.

The school board has voted 5-3 to close Appalachia, St. Paul and Pound high schools at the end of this school year (reported by the Coalfield)

Sure I am more than a little jaded but is this the REAL final deal or is it possable that someone can pull something out of there ass to block it?.....again?

I didn't catch the whole thing, but WJHL just now said something about a petition already circulating to stop the closing of the three schools.
Didn't members of the CEASE group say that if the three smaller schools were closed that was when their law suit would be filed to stop it?

2 questions
1) Leagly what can the petition do
2) What grounds would the lawsuit be filed on (or is it an empty threat?)

Yeah, the petition and suits mean nothing IMO..they have no leg to stand on in courts with this, don't know what they think they're accomplishing but wasting money.

Fighting what is going to happen is merely prolonging the bleeding. It is time for all folk from these communities to work hard together and make the best out of a tough situation. We have no choice

wasting money? Heck, they helped SAVE Wise, what, 40 mil. or so by not building new schools. Imagine how much more they can help save by keeping all 6 open!
